Standard Enthalpy of Formation of Methanol?

methanol fuel
countrygurl587 asked:

Here 's the question: The methanol (CH3OH) is an organic solvent and is used as fuel in some engines car. The following data, the calculations enthalpy training standards of methanol. 2 CH3OH (l) + 3 O2 (g) 2 CO2 (g) + 4 H2O (l) (there was a delta) H ° rxn = -1452.8 kJ Nessun'idea how to do this. I tried to steal all entalpie to obtain CH2OH but wasn 't the right answer. O2 = 0 CO2 = -393.5 H2O = -285.8

Liquid methanol (CH3OH) is used as an alternative fuel in truck engines?

methanol fuel
John D asked:

An industrial method for preparing it uses the catalytic hydrogenation of carbon monoxide. CO (g) + 2 H2 (g) CH3OH (l) The as heat (in kJ) is released when 18.5 L CO to 85C and 107 kPa react with 20.7 L H2 to 75C and 710. Torr?

Experiment on the better fuel?

methanol fuel
flowers4eden asked:

What kind of experiment could do to find out if methanol, CH3OH, or propanol, C3H7OH is the best fuel? Both are liquid at room temperature and it is possible that the methanol produces more heat then the mass equal to propanol but are not positive.
