Using ethanol in non-flexible fuel engines

As I own one car with standard spark-ignition (petrol) engine, I was wondering if I could fuel it with ethanol. The theory of using ethanol fuel in petrol engines is simple: it should work, if you add more fuel to the mixture. Ethanol contains considerable amount of oxygen and thus needs less air to be burnt fully. But will it work in practice as well? Is it safe to use ethanol, or does it dissolve some rubber parts as biodiesel does?

If you are worried as well, take a look at the following video (more…)

For engine builders with alcohol fuel experience?

alcohol fuel
Ryan K asked:

What is a safe compression ratio for a small block high performance (+ .500 lift cam, the individual collector) designed to burn E85 (85% alcohol, petrol by 15%, medium-octane 104). Burn a minimum of 85% alcohol, probably un'più high percentage on the day of the race, but I 'm who seeks the highest compression without concern for the detonation. I know there are many variables, but I 'm that the framework seeks a number from someone with experience. Researchers at my university are saying in the 13:1, but have only experienced engine aircraft that run E85. I was thinking that the geometry of typical small block (the highest speed of piston aircraft engines) were a higher number. I 'm not sure.

Anybody know how to convert a 1963 VW Beetle to a fuel flex car?

alcohol fuel
Techguy2396 asked:

Deflection of an automobile fuel, is a car that can particular to any combination of alcohol or gasoline. I 'm interested in the programs of conversion for a scarab 1963 Volkswagen. Already I know that this car can be made for casting pure alcohol, simply recording the air-fuel ratio and timing. What – conducted by any fuel that might deteriorate. I would have the capacity to step dall'moonshine my car yet, but I INOLTRE put petrol in it when I want a. And I want especially to any combination of gasoline or alcohol. The cars of the decline in the fuel are common in Brazil. And I have some schematic diagrams of the conversion process, except I don 't talk portuguesse. Some words are similar to English, however. And an examination of patterns, I think we have a basic understanding of how it works. There are supposed to be 6 million of the decline in the automotive fuel on America 's roads today. Most drivers are not informed of their chances of the decline in the fuel. The conversion is supposed to be possible for 100 dollars. I can 't believe I' m ranging duty to do this all by myself. Looks like I 'm in front of the curve on this and it isn 't even on most of the people' s radar yet. I suppose if a terrorist attack interrupts the supply of oil nations, another hurricane strikes, another pulse of gusts of greed, people who sell gasoline – or if the world suddenly and completely works for oil – then I will be one that all of you Come for the answers. I 'm just going to leave this a dispersore in oblivion, There are of BETTER ANSWERS – and that 's what you should vote. Unless someone really provide an answer that is. But if something similar happened? Then you won 't need to worry about putting it to a vote.

E85. Which engines can run it, what is its combustibility and efficiency in comparison to diesel or gas?

sk8erguy181 asked:

E85 is often cheaper than regular gasoline, but aside from knowing he has to do with ethanol is made from corn, I have no idea what it is. Will it normal engine (a conversion is necessary)? Is very efficient on fuel mileage?

Fuel Questions?

methanol fuel
zach b asked:

1. Among the fuels that have oxygen in them and those who don 't, as methanol against butane, because methanol has a lower heat per gram of fuel that the butane that has a lot on? 2. What kind of problems / benefits would ethanol as an alternative fuel to petrol? I think it is becaue because it has so reduced heat per gram of fuel or would be harder to burn or consumption of fuel faster. This is the right kind to you? 3.Stinker station has miz dell'etanolo: What is the percentage of ethanol? What is the level dell'ottano and how it differs from petrol? Thank you!

How much is the tax on Diesel Fuel?

diesel fuel
Oldwhiteguy2earth asked:

When I was a kid, diesel was much more inexpensive gasoline. In some place along the road, has become more expensive. Now I know that diesel is easier to produce the gas, so I'm assuming that there are more taxes on it. We should start thinking to repeal the tax on diesel fuel, or truck drivers are just going to park their drilling equipment.
